Abstract — Comsol Moisture Transport Composite
Comsol Moisture Transport Composite: Civil & Structural Engineering Comprehensive Investigation Integrated Analysis: ETABS · STAAD.Pro · GIS/QGIS · ABAQUS FEA · MATLAB · IoT Sensors · ~8040 Words Chapter 1: Structural Engineering Modeling & Problem Statement Moisture transport modeling in the COMSOL Multiphysics ® software involves tracking both water vapor and liquid water on surfaces and in porous materials. It has applications across a wide range of industries including electronics, food and beverage, pharmaceutical technology, and architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC). Moisture transfer can be modeled using single-phase laminar flow and turbulent flow interfaces and heat transfer mechanisms such as conduction, convection, and radiation.
Analytical & Numerical Modeling Methodology
In this archived webinar, we will discuss how COMSOL Multiphysics ® can model moisture transport, including its capability to couple transport with heat transfer and fluid flow and to work with both porous media and solid materials. Computing laminar and turbulent moisture flows in air is both flexible and user friendly with the Moisture Flow multiphysics interfaces and coupling in the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. Available as of version 5.3a, this comprehensive set of functionality can be used to model coupled heat and moisture transport in air and building materials. Let’s learn how the Moisture Flow interface complements existing functionality, while highlighting its benefits.
Finite Element Results & Code Compliance
Modeling the transport of heat and moisture through porous materials, or from the surface of a fluid, often involves including the surrounding media in the model in order to get accurate estimates of the conditions at the material surfaces. In the investigations of hygrothermal behavior of building envelopes, food packaging, and other common engineering problems, the surrounding medium is probably moist air (air with water vapor).
