Abstract
The growth of technologies demands higher-performance machines to fulfill human needs. This project implements an automatic blackboard / whiteboard cleaner that makes human work easier and reduces the use of manual power. The automatic blackboard duster cleans the board automatically and reduces the time consumed in hand erasing.
The mechanism can automatically detect chalk or marker stains and erase the writing, keeping the board clean. It includes a track structure that permits reciprocation of the duster laterally across an elongate board frame. A chain connected to the duster is driven by a motor positioned above the frame. The principal object is to provide a power-driven erasing apparatus that can be set in operation by the throw of a switch, thus eliminating the drudgery of manually cleaning blackboards and whiteboards.
It is an excellent final-year project for Mechanical, Mechatronics, Production and Industrial Engineering students, combining mechanism design, power transmission and automation principles.
