Abstract
Workshop cutting operations demand controlled, repeatable sawing of sheet and bar stock. A mini bench saw offers a low-cost educational platform to study circular-blade dynamics, motor drive systems and machine guarding.
This project develops a Mini Bench Saw Machine powered by an electric motor that drives a circular saw blade through a belt or direct coupling. Key subsystems include the fabricated base and table, blade arbor, fence/guide, safety guard and power transmission. The unit demonstrates core concepts of machine design and manufacturing suitable for academic evaluation.
It is an excellent final-year project for Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering students, combining fabrication, power transmission and workshop safety principles.
