Abstract
Human muscle power is a readily available renewable energy source. By coupling a pedal mechanism to an electrical generator, kinetic energy can be converted into useful electricity for low-power applications.
This project presents a Pedal Powered Electricity Generator consisting of a sturdy frame, bicycle-style pedal and chain (or belt) drive, a DC generator/dynamo, voltage regulation circuitry and optional battery storage. The system demonstrates energy conversion, mechanical design and basic power electronics.
It is a practical final-year project for mechanical and electrical engineering students focusing on renewable energy, sustainable design and hands-on fabrication.
